Dr. Barry Jones

Barry Jones holds the position of Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Campbell University Divinity School, where he has been imparting knowledge since 2000. Alongside instructing courses in the Old Testament, Barry also teaches Congregational Leadership and methods for Teaching the Bible in the Church. His academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. degree from Duke University.

Before transitioning to academia, Barry gained practical experience as a pastor and associate pastor. He has lent his guidance to eight churches as an interim pastor. Barry’s scholarly contributions extend to his most recent book, “Gaining a Heart of Wisdom: A Model for Theological Interpretation of Scripture,” published in 2019 by Smyth & Helwys Publishing.

Residing in Raleigh with his wife Beth, Barry is the proud parent of two adult children. Beyond his academic and pastoral pursuits, he finds joy in cycling, hiking, a personalized interpretation of running, avid reading, a love for sports of all varieties, and active participation in an online trivia league.
