Rev. Jim Poinsett
With over 17 years of experience in transitional ministry nationwide, including major metropolitan areas like New York, Philadelphia, and St. Louis, Rev. Jim Poinsett is passionate about guiding congregations through periods of change. He fosters a collaborative spirit with congregational leaders, believing they can build a strong foundation for the future. Through open communication, shared visioning, and active listening, Jim partners with congregations to identify and address current and emerging needs. His experience navigating change equips him to empower churches to make bold, healthy, and faithful decisions.
Jim’s passion for rediscovering purpose extends to helping congregations develop compelling visions for the future. His preaching, teaching, and organizational management skills, honed through 13 years of non-profit leadership experience, have helped congregations embrace their strengths and embark on new paths anchored in their unique gifts and passions.
Grounded in love and service, Jim’s ministry follows Jesus Christ’s example. He believes in fostering a welcoming, inclusive community where diverse voices are heard and respected. His passion lies in helping congregations see the transformative power of faith and build vibrant ministries that extend hospitality and serve the wider community’s needs.
Jim is a proud alumnus of Yale University Divinity School, where he earned his M.Div., and Ball State University, where he obtained his B.S. Committed to bridging theory and practice, Jim furthered his education at the Institute for Organizational Management at Notre Dame and pursued studies in Applied Theology at Aquinas Theological Institute in St. Louis. He also received interim pastor training through the Presbyterian Church (USA) at Princeton Theological Seminary.
